We are seeking an Accounting Assistant to become an integral part of our team! The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for managing and processing payroll. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll systems, compliance with labor laws, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains confidentiality and protects employee data
• Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation
• Review, audit, and process payroll for Union, exempt and non-exempt employees
• Ensure compliance with CBAs, union rules, and labor regulations
• Update and process union-specific payroll deductions, including union dues, pension contributions, and other mandated deductions
• Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
• Collaborate with HR to resolve payroll discrepancies and issues
• Preparing monthly union reports
• Keep accurate records in accordance with company standards
• Assist AR/AP as needed
• Perform all other office tasks

Qualifications:

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze financial concepts effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Knowledge of standard accounting procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
• Excellent in accounting software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
