POSITION SUMMARY:

The Community Health Engagement Coordinator supports the YMCA's efforts to reduce social isolation, build and sustain a vibrant volunteer program, and assist in the expansion of our Chronic Disease Prevention programs. This part-time position is ideal for a compassionate, organized, and community-minded individual with a passion for healthy living and social connections.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in community engagement, volunteer coordination, or public health preferred.
  • Familiarity with chronic disease prevention programs is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be available for occasional evening and weekend events.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and facilitating programs aimed at reducing social isolation (e.g., walking groups, social events, outreach initiatives).
  • Assist the Wellness Director in developing and maintaining a volunteer program, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and recognition.
  • Support the implementation and growth of evidence-based Chronic Disease Prevention Programs (e.g., Diabetes Prevention Program, Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring).
  • Conduct outreach and engagement with members and community partners to promote program awareness and participation.
  • Track participation, outcomes, and feedback to inform continuous improvement.
  • Represent the YMCA at community health fairs, local events, and partner meetings as needed.
  • Collaborate with other Y departments and staff to ensure alignment with overall Healthy Living strategies.

  • Physical activities of this position may include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, usage of fingers, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Such activities may take place between 50 – 90% of the time during regular duties.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • Worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather changes but not necessarily from temperature changes. Subject to both environmental conditions, due to activities occurring inside and outside.
  • Physical demands of position may include light work such as exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as light work.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities and structures.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Schedule & Compensation :

  • Part-time (approx. 15–20 hours per week)
