Computer Specialist (Junior) (MD and PA State) BVA Bears IT Solutions

Full-time, remote role with travel to Government or Contractor facilities as required in PA and MD. Average workday is 8 hours, scheduled between 6:00am and 6:00pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, with Government Holidays observed. Core hours are 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Responsibilities

• Determine costs for converting computer systems from one language or machine to another by utilizing compilers, simulators, emulators, and/or language translators, and recommend better utilization of operating systems capabilities to improve system efficiency.
• Translate application requirements into web-based solutions and implement emerging technologies within the software development process.
• Support the Governments mission by delivering reliable and efficient software applications, using modern internet protocols and advanced technologies.
• Develop, manage, maintain, and evaluate state-of-the-art computer hardware, software, and software development tools.
• Evaluate their ability to support specific requirements and interface with other equipment and systems.
• Identify bottlenecks and propose recommendations for their elimination.
• Make recommendations for system improvements to optimize hardware and software usage.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related scientific or technical discipline; OR three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field.

Specialized Experience

• At least three (3) years of experience as a computer hardware and/or systems software specialist, or as a systems analyst with duties relating to evaluating third- and fourth-generation or state-of-the-art computer hardware and software and its ability to support specific requirements for systems management or large-scale system development and maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least five (5) years of computer experience in at least two of the following disciplines: systems analysis, systems programming, application programming, and/or equipment analysis.
