Position: CYBER SECURITY SPECIALIST

Responsibilities:

Cybersecurity Specialist works with System Engineering personnel to incorporate official cybersecurity requirements and security best practices into the development of networked and stand-alone IT systems. Specific job tasks and requirements include:

• Prepare detailed reports and standard artifacts in support of high-quality DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) Assessment & Authorization (A&A) package submissions
• Assess and document security posture of IT systems using approved tools and techniques
• Identify and communicate mitigation and remediation strategies.
• Perform system scanning, patching and hardening in accordance with established standards and procedures.
• Creatively adapt guidance to unique situations and implement custom cybersecurity strategies and solutions.
• Respond to and collaborate with assigned reviewers to provide additional information requests.

Certifications preferred

• Security+
• Network+
• MCSE
• Linux+

Required Experience & Skills:

• Minimum 2 years of full-time information security experience.
• Candidate must be actively pursuing or possess the CompTIA Security + certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in information security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technology skills
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance

• Electrical Engineering
• Computer Engineering
• Computer Science
• Cybersecurity
• Experience implementing security control frameworks (e.g. NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, ISO 27001)
• Working knowledge of the DoD Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) to evaluate cybersecurity capabilities and optimize security investments.

Work Location: Newport RI, no telework available.

Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance or higher is required at time of hire.
