Job Description

Our client, a leading institution in higher education, is seeking a dedicated and strategic Department Manager-Higher Education to join their dynamic team. As a Department Manager-Higher Education, you will be instrumental in overseeing departmental operations, fostering growth, and ensuring the effective management of resources. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, which will align successfully within the organization.

What's the Job?

  • Lead the management of overall departmental operations, processes, and strategic planning to support institutional goals.
  • Serve as a primary resource for staff, faculty, and researchers on policies and procedures, ensuring clarity and compliance.
  • Develop and present innovative improvement plans to enhance workflow efficiency and promote departmental growth.
  • Oversee and approve departmental budgets, including post-award grant expenses and workflows, ensuring financial integrity.
  • Support academic administration, faculty processes, and coordinate department events to foster a collaborative environment.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field; Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant administrative experience, including supervising departmental operations and managing budgets.
  • Experience with faculty hiring, payroll, and research administration is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to interact effectively at all levels.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management at an intermediate level or higher.
