Who we're looking for:
A buy-side research analyst with a proven track record of strong investment performance within their specialty, covering companies globally. The role requires solid fundamental research capabilities, advanced financial modelling skills, clear communication of their investment thesis and accountability for recommendations. A background in value investing is important. Additionally, we are seeking a candidate with a strong record of academic and professional excellence, natural curiosity, and a willingness to engage in thoughtful debates within a team-based decision-making environment.
The team: The International and Global team covers three global large-cap value strategies across both US and non-US markets. Our investment philosophy is rooted in identifying companies with attractive and sustainable returns relative to risk where consensus is overly concerned with a controversy. We focus on inflecting fundamentals and strive to capitalize on price dislocations and market inefficiencies to drive long-term capital appreciation. A disciplined approach to valuation is critical to success.

Position Summary Our analysts are the primary source for idea generation. You will conduct bottom-up fundamental stock selection, driven by proprietary research.
You will be fully integrated into the investment process and responsible for identifying and analyzing equity securities that align with investment goals.
Investment recommendations will be assessed relative to your sector.
This position is an integral member of team where you will work closely with fellow analysts, portfolio managers and the CIO. The position will report to the Chief Investment Officer of Global and Emerging Markets and is based in our midtown Manhattan offices.
Some travel is required.
Experience and Qualifications - At least 7+ years of relevant work experience (sell side research, buy side research, investment banking, consulting, corporate strategy, tech engineering)
- At least 5 years of buy-side investment experience
- Effective oral and written communication skills to articulate an investment thesis and ability to interact with senior management of companies in coverage area
- Strong financial modeling skills are a minimum requirement
- Detail orientation and the ability to consume, digest and synthesize a large amount of information from a variety of sources and convert them into proprietary, actionable insights in a timely fashion, is a prerequisite to succeed in this position.
- We highly value the ability to identify factors such as competitive advantage, strategic inflection points or disruptive developments as well as the ability to synthesize and articulate these fundamental characteristics both qualitatively in a thesis write-up and quantitatively in a financial/valuation model.
Education - Bachelor's or master's degree.

Technical Proficiency Requirements - Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Compensation The base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $185,000.
Compliance: Ariel employees, including the incumbent(s) in this position, are required to: (1) read and strictly adhere to all compliance policies and procedures of the various Ariel entities, as applicable; and (2) work together with their colleagues, including the CCO, to resolve compliance issues.
