Job Description

Vaco is actively seeking Accounting Consultants to support our clients with project-based initiatives and interim coverage during peak periods. This role requires an Accounting Manager-level skill set while remaining hands-on with daily accounting operations.
As a Vaco Consultant, you will apply your expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. You’ll work within tight deadlines, managing general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audits, and budget/forecast activities.
Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day financial reporting and ensure accuracy in client financial data
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, fixed assets, payroll, and accruals
• Review and approve account classifications for accuracy and compliance
• Analyze and validate general ledger transactions to ensure completeness
• Assist in budget formulation and prepare monthly variance analyses
• Conduct technical accounting research on revenue recognition, leases, stock-based compensation, and business combinations

• 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with expertise in month-end close and financial reporting
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
• Prior experience in public accounting or consulting strongly preferred
• Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Proficiency in ERP systems
• Experience with reporting systems preferred

• Ability to commit to project duration and manage multiple priorities
• Self-starter who works autonomously with minimal direction
• Strong ability to communicate effectively and manage expectations with key stakeholders
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills

Our projects typically last between 3 months and 6 months, but often go longer than expected. As the project has a clear end date, Vaco will work to secure a reference from the client, work with the Consultant to build a Case Study, and begin marketing for our next engagement.

• the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;
• licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
