In the first three months, the Organizational Development Specialist will hit the ground running by forging strong connections with the Employee Experience, Talent Operations, and Talent Development teams. This accelerated onboarding will include a thorough assessment of current change initiatives the talent teams have in process, project management practices, and data reporting tools, paving the way for creating streamlined frameworks for change management and project planning.

To set the stage for early victories, the Specialist will dive into supporting one or two high-priority, manageable projects that allow for immediate impact and momentum.

Logistics

  • Location: Farmington Hills, MI
  • Hybrid Schedule: Tuesday and Thursdays in-office (Work from Home M, W, F)
    • Typically operates Monday - Friday during business hours with very occasional evenings and weekends

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management Support: Provide direct support to Talent Leaders in the project management of organizational development initiatives, including tracking timelines, managing tasks, and organizing resources to ensure projects stay on schedule.
    • Follow-Up and Coordination: Proactively follow up on action items and decisions made during project meetings, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely completion of tasks.
    • Focus Group Facilitation & Analysis: Assist in the design, coordination, and facilitation of focus groups to gather employee feedback. This includes scheduling, preparing materials, and actively participating in sessions to ensure effective data collection.
    • Data Analysis and Reporting: Conduct data analysis on feedback mechanisms (e.g., surveys, focus group transcripts) and other organizational data. Prepare clear and concise reports for Talent Leaders, highlighting key insights and trends.
    • Organizational Support for Projects: Provide comprehensive organization for various organizational development projects, including managing documentation, maintaining project files, and preparing presentations for Talent Leaders.
    • Change Management Implementation Support: Support the implementation of organizational change management initiatives by assisting with communication plan execution, data collection on stakeholder engagement, and tracking mitigation strategies for potential resistance.
  • Performance Management System Support: Assist the Manager of Employee Experience with the organization and follow-up related to the evolution and implementation of performance management systems, ensuring all components are tracked and aligned.
  • Strategic Workforce Planning Support: Provide detailed support to Talent Leaders throughout the strategic workforce planning process, including:
    • Current Workforce Analysis: Assist in gathering and analyzing data on the current workforce, including demographics, skills, capabilities, and capacity. This involves organizing data from various HR systems and preparing summary reports.
    • Future Demand Forecasting: Support the collection of information from business leaders regarding future organizational goals, anticipated growth, new technologies, and market trends to help forecast future workforce needs (e.g., required roles, skills, and headcount).
    • Gap Analysis Support: Help Talent Leaders conduct gap analysis by comparing current workforce capabilities with future demands. This includes organizing data for skills gap identification, potential surpluses, and critical role needs.
    • Action Plan Development Assistance: Provide organizational and research support for the development of strategic workforce action plans, including initiatives for recruitment, talent development, succession planning, and retention.

  • Monitoring and Reporting on Progress: Assist in tracking the implementation of workforce planning initiatives, collecting relevant metrics, and preparing reports on progress towards defined objectives.
  • Department-Level Goal and Action Planning Support: Support Talent Leaders in cascading organizational goals to the department level by:
    • Goal Planning Facilitation: Assist in preparing materials and organizing sessions for departments to define their specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals and OKRs that align with broader company objectives.
    • Action Planning Assistance: Help departments break down their goals into actionable steps, including identifying required resources, timelines, and responsible parties. This may involve setting up and maintaining project plans or trackers.
    • Progress Monitoring and Follow-up: Regularly follow up with department leads on the progress of their goals and action plans, collecting updates, identifying roadblocks, and escalating issues to Talent Leaders as needed.
    • Data Collection for Reporting: Gather data and information related to department-level goal achievement for reporting to Talent Leaders, highlighting successes and areas requiring further attention.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in organizational development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in organizational development required, and Master’s degree in Organizational Development strongly preferred.
  • Experience leveraging Generative AI tools such as CoPilot to enhance organizational development initiatives, streamline processes, and develop innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing OD interventions (e.g., change management, culture initiatives, employee engagement programs, performance evaluation and measurement, workforce planning).
  • Systems thinking
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Well-developed Project Management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, empathy, and discretion.
  • Change Management Certification preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office inclusive of PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and especially strong expertise in Excel is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, MURAL, Canva, and eLearning tools strongly preferred.
