Remote SEO Content Writer (6-Month Contract)

We are seeking a temporary SEO Content Writer to join our content marketing team for a 6-month remote contract . In this role, you'll produce, edit, and optimize high-quality blog content that educates taxpayers and drives organic search performance.
The ideal candidate combines a strong writing voice with a deep understanding of SEO best practices, content optimization tools, and WordPress CMS. You'll work closely with the SEO Manager and subject matter experts to ensure every piece of content meets brand, compliance, and SEO standards.
Write and optimize long-form blog posts (1,2001,500 words) aligned with SEO briefs and trending search topics.
Update existing blog content for accuracy, structure, and SEO performance improvements.
Implement on-page SEO best practices: keyword integration, metadata, header formatting, and internal linking.
Publish and maintain articles in WordPress, ensuring formatting consistency and accessibility.
Collaborate with internal SEO and content teams to ensure brand alignment and factual accuracy.
Use tools like Clearscope, MarketMuse, or SurferSEO to identify keyword gaps and enhance content quality.
Monitor content performance metrics and recommend ongoing optimization strategies.
Proofread and fact-check content for grammar, accuracy, and compliance before publication.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, English, Communications, or a related field.
5+ years of experience writing and editing SEO-optimized web content.
Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals keyword research, metadata, and content structure.
Hands-on experience with WordPress CMS (creating, editing, and publishing).
Exceptional grammar, research, and proofreading skills.
Strong ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced publishing environment.
Experience using Clearscope, MarketMuse, or SurferSEO.
Background in tax, accounting, or financial writing.
Familiarity with Google Analytics, Search Console, and content performance tracking.
Experience collaborating with SEO or editorial teams on content pipelines.
