Senior Human Resources Manager – Manufacturing (100% Onsite)
Location: Onsite in Sioux Falls, SD/Marshall, MN Area (Travel, lodging, and per diem provided)
We are seeking a Senior Human Resources Manager to join a dynamic manufacturing operation running 24/7. This role requires a resilient and adaptable HR leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-demand environment. This person will work closely with plant leadership to address employee relations, staffing, compliance, and strategic HR initiatives, while also serving as a key translator and cultural liaison for Spanish-speaking employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead HR presence at the plant, managing all HR activities and personnel.
- Handle complex employee relations (ER) matters, including coaching, counseling, and conflict resolution.
- Provide Spanish-English translation support for supervisors and team members.
- Implement and support strategic HR initiatives from corporate HQ.
- Partner with the Plant Manager and Payroll Manager to ensure accurate payroll processing aligned with site-specific practices.
- Coordinate with external staffing partners and recruiters to meet plant hiring needs.
- Support compliance efforts, including quarterly audits, as part of a federally mandated corrective action plan following a DOL investigation.
- Maintain high visibility on the production floor to build trust and reinforce compliance with company policies.
- Facilitate onboarding and employee engagement activities.
- Assist in benefits communication and issue resolution.
- Champion and maintain company culture through training, development, and mentorship programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or food production setting.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (Required).
- Proven success managing employee relations in a high-volume, culturally diverse workforce.
- Experience with Paycom (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to navigate difficult conversations and stand firm when needed.
- Familiarity with compliance and labor audits, especially with youth employment laws, is a plus.
- PHR/SPHR certification is a plus.
Additional Details:
- Typical hours: 7:30 AM – 3:30/4:00 PM (to align with shift changes).
- Open to a 4-day workweek, depending on candidate preference and plant needs.
- Lodging provided for traveling employees; closest accommodations are 30–60 minutes away.
- This is a challenging onsite role that requires resilience, flexibility, and the ability to manage complex interpersonal and compliance situations.
- Candidates must be comfortable in small-town environments with limited dining and lodging amenities.
