Job Description & Requirements Title: Medical Lab Scientist
Location: Baltimore, MD
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Mid Shift, 5x8-Hour (14:30 – 23:00), Sunday–Saturday
Job Responsibilities and Required/Preferred Skills and Requirements:
Perform comprehensive clinical laboratory testing in a hospital clinical laboratory setting with a strong emphasis on Blood Bank operations (HARD STOP – Blood Bank experience is required) .
\tWork independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
\tPerform testing, analysis, reporting, and interpretation across multiple laboratory disciplines including Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology/Serology, Urinalysis, and Blood Bank.
\tAccurately process specimens including accessioning, collection, handling, transport, preparation, pipetting, and result reporting.
\tConduct quality assurance, quality control review, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting across laboratory instrumentation.
\tParticipate in transfusion services including patient identification, compatibility testing, product preparation, and transfusion reaction workups.
\tCollaborate with phlebotomy and interpretation services to support patient care across all age groups.
\tMaintain proper specimen storage, hazardous material handling, infection control, and transmission-based precautions.
\tDemonstrate strong organizational skills and ability to function independently in a fast-paced environment.
\tRequired Experience & Certifications:
Minimum 2 years of Medical Lab Scientist experience .
\tBlood Bank experience required (non-negotiable) .
\tASCP certification required.
\tActive Maryland or Compact license required at submission.
\tPreferred Certifications:
ASCP-MLS
