Job Title: Quality Engineer – Logistics & Distribution
General Purpose:
Supports and maintains quality assurance programs, process improvements, and compliance standards within a logistics and distribution environment to ensure accurate, safe, and efficient movement of goods.
Principal Accountabilities:
Develops and implements inspection and audit procedures for inbound and outbound shipments, packaging integrity, labeling accuracy, and inventory accuracy.
Designs and enforces sampling and verification processes to monitor the quality of materials received, stored, and shipped.
Creates forms, checklists, and SOPs for warehouse quality evaluations and ensures documentation accuracy and compliance.
Leads investigations and root cause analysis of product discrepancies, shipment errors, and returns; recommends corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Coordinates with warehouse operations teams to ensure quality standards are maintained across material handling, storage, and shipping activities.
Conducts training sessions for warehouse and logistics personnel on quality assurance procedures, compliance expectations, and error prevention.
Tracks and reports quality performance metrics (e.g., error rates, return reasons, shipping accuracy) to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
Maintains and validates data integrity in quality-related systems, ensuring real-time visibility into quality KPIs and audit findings.
Supports customer complaint investigations and works closely with account managers and program leads to ensure timely resolution and corrective action implementation.
Leads internal quality audits across warehouse functions to ensure compliance with company procedures and industry standards.
Oversees qualification and periodic review of storage and handling equipment (e.g., scanners, packaging tools, racking systems) to ensure proper operation and calibration.
Collaborates with safety and compliance teams to align quality initiatives with OSHA, ISO, and other regulatory requirements.
Supports project teams in evaluating and qualifying new processes, workflows, or systems that impact logistics quality performance.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of logistics industry quality standards and best practices, applying them to continuous improvement efforts.
