Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS : Prefer five (5) years of experience in special education and assistive technology. General computer and network technology and school district technology


experience preferred.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Student Services

JOB GOAL : To maintain the assistive technology of the school district.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supports special education and general education staff in the use of low-tech and high-tech devices to enable students with disabilities to be more productive.
  2. Supports the assistive technology needs of students with hearing impairments and students with visual impairments in collaboration with the District's special education teachers. 3. Maintains oversight of the district's assistive technology library of low-tech and high-tech devices including checking out and checking in devices.
  3. Participates and co-leads the District's Assistive Technology Team.
  4. Facilitates District staff in the use of the Short-Term Loan Library including the annual completion of the Equipment Loan Agreement.
  5. Installs or assists service personnel in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives on user's premises.
  6. Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs into computer.
  7. Instructs users in use of equipment, software, and manuals.
  8. Installs and configures local area data communications networks which may carry data, voice and video communications following organization standards.
  9. Installs, operates and maintains network services, routers, concentrators, hubs, switches, modems and other network devices following technical plans.
  10. Resolves network communications problems to ensure user's access appropriate networks. 12. Troubleshoots and repairs all technology related issues.
  11. Responds to user questions and explains the operation of network applications and equipment. 14. Assists in the maintenance of standards and documentation.
  12. Maintains an accurate inventory of technology equipment.
  13. Performs other job duties as required.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:

  1. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet and District software, preferred accounting used software and Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and other appropriate technology software).

  1. Twelve-month, employee pay and benefits in accordance with Board policy.
  2. FLSA: Non-Exempt
  3. Full Time Employee Benefits in accordance with Board policy.

  1. Performance to be evaluated in accordance with the Board policy on evaluation of support personnel.
